A properly designed bleaching tray like the one shown here, conforms perfectly to the teeth and seals tightly at the gingival margin to prevent the bleach from leaking out onto the tissue. Although the thickness of the tray can be adjusted to your particular desire, the normal thickness is .040 mm. Note - Some practitioners like the lab to place a spacer on the model to create a well for the bleach. Our experience shows that this is not necessary, however you may request this design addition when you write your prescription.
