Upper Treatment Partial To Gather Flared Anteriors
4183 C

This appliance demonstrates the versatility of treatment partials. In this scenario, all of the anteriors are flared due to a loss of posterior support and periodontal disease. Specifically, both cuspids and the left lateral need to be moved lingually prior to gathering the rest of the anteriors and placing an intra-coronal splint. To accomplish this tooth movement, T-springs are used to move the cuspids and lateral lingually. Then, to finish gathering the anteriors, an elastic is placed across the labial surface of the anteriors stretching from hooks on the labial bow at the first bicuspids. All of this tooth movement takes place using a temporary treatment partial. Once all of the desired tooth movement is complete, an intra-coronal splint will be placed so that the splinting will not interfere with the design of the permanent partial.
