This upper active partial sample was designed to treat a patient that has a peg lateral on the left side and a congenitally missing lateral on the right side. First and second bicuspids are also missing on the right side. By using this simple appliance, space can be created for the replacement of the lateral on the right with either a bridge or an implant, and for the placement of a veneer on the left lateral. This tooth movement is accomplished with the use of simple mesial and distal kicker springs. With an appliance like this, we are able to accomplish this essential minor orthodontic movement while still maintaining a functional occlusion.
