Half Adams
C1001

When the distal-buccal undercut of the tooth being clasped is too far sub-gingival to use a standard Adams clasp, the half Adams clasp is an effective clasp to use. As illustrated, the “arrow-point” is placed accurately to engage the mesial-buccal undercut of the molar while the distal portion of the clasp is adapted tightly around the rest of the molar.

This clasp is very stable as it still has two anchor points into the lingual acrylic. Again, care should be taken to select those teeth where the possibility of occlusal interference will not be an issue.
